Emmanuel and I completed a Cook Island language week challenge.

First we picked two topics, food and colour, to learn. We looked up a Cook Island dictionary to learn the pronunciation.

Emmanuel and I put names, images and Cook Island words for the foods and colour on a google slide.

Lastly Emmanuel and I recorded a screencastify saying the new words we learnt.

I enjoyed learning new words and learning about new culture.

Writing - Smiles

Smiles compare two things using "like" or "as....as"

"Like" similes are used for an action or a movement
For example "Oscar is crawling like a baby."

"As" is used for adjectives and describing.
For example "Aisea is as tall as a giraffe."

Smiles help describeing things clear.

LI: to desscribe things by smile.

Rahi and the Patupairehe

LI:  summarize using visualising and inferencing.

This week we were learning to summrise.

We also needed to link visualisation & inferencing to help us.

We filled in a story web to summirse each part of the story.

I used my visualisation from week one to help seperate the parts of the story.

I used my character inference traits to use adjective and evidence to help summerise diiffrerent parts.

Using good adjectives unlocks meaningful information and I can summerise quicker.

Connecting all 3 strategies helped me to understand the story, character & keywords.
