Maths- Division

For maths we made division storys.

To make maths problems into a story we splitted into 4 parts. The first part was how many objects, the second part was who you divided with, the third part is how much you splitted and The last part is to write the proper question eg: 12 ÷ 12 = 1.

LI: to divide objects evenly.

Writing - narrtive planning

A narrative is a fictional story.First we had to create what would happen in the story then choose which one you want to do.

Second list down topes. Topes stand for title, orientation, problem, event and solution.

Lastly you had to write down your plan in the topes.

LI: to write up a short narrtive.

Kiwi sport - Touch

For kiwi sport we practise basic touch rugby skills.

The first activity we did was tapping the ball drill we had to go up to the cone put the ball on the floor and tap it with your feet.

The second activity we did was a passing drill. We had to line up in groups then pass.

The last activity we did was to run with and with a partner then try to pass the ball quick when the person on the other team is about touch.

I enjoy  learning new things about touch rugby.

Reading

For reading we learned about skimming and scanning

Skimming is reading topic sentences to get a basic idea of a book or text and scanning is looking for keywords to find information you need.

We skim and scan on this book called ants on the march.

Next we pick three key words from the book and do one definition.

Inquiry - cool and warm

Insulators are used to stop heat from moving place to place. Five materials were tested for the ability t0o insulate: glass, plastic, metal, paper, and polystyrene.

The best insulator for keeping things warms was glass, plastic and paper. The worst were polystyrene.

The best insulator for keeping things cold are glass. The worst things that keep things cold were tin.

The best insulator for both is paper.

LI: to learn and practice experimental methods.

Then we did this card activity. We had to match the right picture with the right words.

I enjoy learning new maori words.

LI: to learn about maori.

Comment thread

I commented on Elaario blog post. His blog post was about division and maths. I ask him if he was quick at answering divison question.

LI: To have positive comments on blog posts.

Basic facts boxes

Today I did the speed demon challenge. I did mutiplication. I got 83 right and 7 wrong and my time was
7m 18s.

I did not beat my time.

LI: to rapidly recall basic facts.

SSR Slefie

LI: to summarise and retell a text.

Kiwi sport- Touch rugby

We learned about touch rugby skills.

First we practised catching the ball. We threw the ball above our head and catch it well walking foward and backwards.

Second we practised passing ball. We pass the ball back and fourth to our partners without dropping the ball.

Lastly we played a game. The goal was to try to put a rugby ball inside of the hula hoops when the whistle blows but we cant move the with the ball so our partner has to run to the hoop. Then I pass to him so he can put the ball down.

I enjoyed learning about touch rugby.

Reading -

LI: to skim and scan.

For reading we learned about skim and scan.

Skimming is reading topic sentences to get a basic idea of a book or text and scanning is looking for keywords to find information you need.

We were skimming and scanning on this book called meet the kakapo.

We had to find the three main key words then pick one to do a definition on. After we had to attributed an image for our key words.

Then we got 4 facts for the main topic. My facts talks about what there favourite food and what type of bird is it.

Inquiry

For inquiry we were learning about how precise and consistent the experiment is.

The experiment was how much the material was going to absorb.

First we had to get in groups of three then we had to pick what material then we had to see how much ML we were going to put in our container. We had to use 100ml of water and grab a tote tray.

Second we had to pick how many drops of food coloring we were going to put in we had to 5 drops of food coloring in our 100ml, then we stirred it.

Next we measure 50g of sand using a scale.

After this we poured the 100ml of water over the sand and waited for the sand to absorb the water. We tipped the remaining water out and measured what was not absorbed by the sand.

I enjoyed doing expeirments and learing about new things.

LI: to learn abd practice experimental.

Maths- Division

LI: to share objects evenly.

Division is sharing an amount of things among people.

For example: 24 ÷ 6 = 4, the original number is 24 the number of groups is 6 the group size is 4.

The one slide below shows divsion.

Maori - Body parts

LI: to learn about body parts in Maori.

This week for Maori we learned about the body parts.

We complete this task we had to match the maori words with the English words. If we know one we had to highlight them in blue.

I want to learn more Maori words.
